I in silence

I in silence
lie blinded sideways
single point of contact
with a heavenly body
shielding me from space –

pinioned to this iron pearl
storming a million miles a second
through a fathomless black
pinpricked with infinite light –

I in silence
step on the cemeteries
of creatures impossibly alien
more multitudinous by the thimble
than the census of a thousand years –

inside more unlike than like myself
the ecology of the invisible
more necessary than the cells
of the true host, human colony –

I in silence
close eyes to the wildness of being
and look upon dust –
